Frying fish with Corn flour

Frying fish can be tedious especially with Fresh fish or white fish that fall apart easily. Have you been wondering what better and safer option to fry fish - that will prevent fish from sticking to the fryer or falling apart in the course of ensuring uniformity in frying - without using a nonstick pan? well this post is just for you.

Fresh fish can be very delicate because the fibres are not as firm as that of mammals and as such fall apart easily, just as fruit juices are not as viscous as smoothies. Notice that during boiling, fresh fish falls apart as well but it is more during frying.

To fry Fresh fish without falling apart, a binder is used to ensure that the fish is firm all through the culinary process. Binders here have different effects on the fry. The Binder that will be used here is corn flour also known as corn starch. Corn flour is finely ground corn grains. It keeps the fry intact all through the culinary process.

There are a number of other binders, but all other binders could alter the taste and appearance of the fry. Bread crumbs for example makes the fry crunchy with a rough appearance. Other binders commonly used in Nigeria are Yam flour and Wheat flour.

But corn flour gives you your fry with little or no alterations to the appearance and taste, giving you that shining and fibrous feel with no guilt. Follow these half a dozen steps to fry with corn flour:

1. Clean fish thoroughly

2. Marinate in sauce of choice

3. Drain fish in a sieve for 10minutes

4. Sprinkle corn flour uniformly on drained fish

5. Fry fish till golden brown colour is observed

6. Bail fry and drain in sieve

And your fry is intact and ready for that memorable meal.
